Job Summary

Effectively and efficiently perform functional supervisory responsibilities in managing the quality and workflow within the production department. Direct skilled individuals in the planning, handling, construction, and finishing of stoke and custom cabinetry, vanities, entertainment units, bars and countertops based on design specifications and requirements.

Education Requirements

No certifications, degrees or apprenticeships required

Qualifications

  • Overall 3-5 years of hands-on, on-the-job experience within the carpentry industry,
  • 1-2 of those years should include installation experience,
  • At least 2 of those years in cabinetry (preferably within a manufacturing environment), and
  • at least 1 of those years should be in a leadership/supervisory role

Job Duties

  • Always follow established safety rules and regulations, use proper protective safety gear, and maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Expertise in reading blueprints, sketches and technical diagrams/instructions
  • Understand, plan, schedule, oversee and participate in the Implementation of the Requirements including any and all special notes and symbols
  • Supervise and participate in the setting-up and operation a variety of woodworking machines such as power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers to ensure that safety regulations are being observed
  • Assign and direct subordinates, supervise and participate in the construction, installation, refinishing, and/or repairs of cabinets, countertops, vanities, entertainment units, etc.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout the build/project to ensure everything is progressing according to specifications
  • Maintain records and reports on material, labour, and other costs of a project
  • Requisition supplies, materials, tools, equipment, and repairs as needed

  • Manual dexterity and physical strength (may be required to lift items in excess of 25 kilograms)

Working Conditions

  • There are risks of personal injury involved in working with woodworking tools and machinery
  • Work is indoors and as such, may be exposed to high noise levels, airborne sawdust, and fumes from glues/chemicals used in assembling, finishing and/or stripping items
