Applewood Glass is a leader in the architectural glazing industry. The company manufactures a widerange of aluminum and glass fenestration products at its state of the art manufacturing facility inMississauga, Ontario. Applewood Glass provides unitized (pre-glazed) curtain wall systems andsupported structural glass walls for commercial and industrial projects.

 

As a CAD Drafting Technician you will be an integral part of our focused team, working with AutoCAD and other systems to draft Curtain Wall Systems and Architectural Fenestration Products.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering

 

Experience:

  • 1+ years CAD Drafting Technician
  • Applicants must have experience with North American Curtain Wall Systems and Architectural Fenestration Products.
  • Applicants must have drafting experience and understanding of North American glazing systems and building envelope construction.
  • Applicants must be able to draft shop drawings for curtain wall, windows, entrances and skylight systems.

 

Skills:

  • Solid construction knowledge base with emphasis on building envelope design
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong time management skills to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn new software programs
  • Proactive problem solver with strong listening skills

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create Shop Drawings using AutoCAD of all Fenestration products manufactured and produced for construction projects
  • Update reviewed drawings to reflect changes and or errors/ omissions
  • Produce drawings for shop fabrication/ installation including cut sheets, material lists and relevant detailing
  • Communicate and work with offsite engineer to detail drawings suitable for stamping
  • Representation at meetings where necessary
  • Onsite site measurement / management as required
  • Liaising with the customers, suppliers, and the construction community
  • Prepare bill of materials for aluminum framing, glass, misc. parts.
  • Prepare orders for materials from suppliers
  • Create custom designs as required for architectural approval

 

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent - Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week.
