Job Duties
Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, and cooking
Prepare and cook menu items using kitchen equipment
Prepare and cook specialty curry dishes and other dishes
Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling food and beverages
Supervise and advise kitchen staff and helpers
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
Estimate food requirements and cost, and monitor and order supplies
Clean kitchen and work areas
Prepare all food and beverage items to the highest standard following recipes and procedures
Anticipate and respond to flow of orders to ensure timely completion of all food items
Accurately complete all station set up and closing procedures
Maintain food quality control and productivity at all times
Adhere to all safe food handling procedures and uphold food safety practices
Maintain cleanliness and health & safety standards of your station at all times
Follow all operational policies and procedures
Employment requirements
Completion of secondary school is usually required.
2-3 years of commercial cooking experience or Completion of a 3-year apprenticeship program for cooks or Completion of college program in cooking with 6 months on the job training
Strong communication skills in English
Ability to stand in kitchen for long periods of time and carry out physical tasks
Ability to provide consistent and reliable services in preparation of foods
Benefits
As per BC Employment Standards Act, 4% vacation pay of the gross salary each pay period or 10 days of paid vacation (worker will choose). Free meals are provided.
