Work Location: Various locations across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley

Job Title: Construction Trade Helper 

Terms of Employment: 30-40 hours per week, full-time, Permanent

Start Date: As soon as possible 

Wage: $21.00-$24.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)

No of Positions: 8 

Job Duties:

• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
• Assist sub-contractors such as carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, roofers and glaziers with clean up
• Cleaning sites by removing rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment and sorting materials and recyclables appropriately
• Set up work areas for tradespeople in advance
• Maintain tools and equipment and coordinate with supervisor if replacement or service required.
• Maintain site fencing and keep site perimeters clean and safe.
• Operate various hand tools such as hammers, power drill, vibrators and tampers as directed
• Opening and closing a site
• Perform other duties assigned by project Managers/Site Superintendents
• Complete and follow a field-level hazard assessment before completing tasks on site.
• Report all injuries, incidents or unsafe working conditions to their direct supervisor or safety representative as soon as possible.
• Report concerns to their direct supervisor immediately.

 SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Education: No Formal Education required.

Experience: No Experience is required.

***Experience working on construction sites would be considered an asset.

Language: Basic Functional English is required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive Tasks, physically demanding requires bending, crouching, kneeling, Handling Heavy loads, requires lifting, pulling, and carrying of equipment and other objects, Standing for long period of time, Hand-eye co-ordination.

Personal Suitability:

• Ability to work in confined spaces, as well as high height levels.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to do physical work for long shifts.
• Ability to be mobile and willing to travel to various job sites.
