PASTRY CHEF

JOB DETAILS

• Salary: $20.00/ hour
• Vacancies: 2 vacancies
• Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time 40 hours/week

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience of preparing popular Indian cuisine items in a commercial kitchen.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods

Personal Suitability: Dependability, Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Initiative, Organized, Reliability, Team player

Ranks of chefs: Pastry chef

Food specialties: Bakery goods and desserts

Supervision: 3-4 people

SPECIFIC SKILLS

• Create new recipes,
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food,
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff,
• Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions,
• Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods,
• Requisition food and kitchen supplies,
• Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions,
• Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs,
• Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants,
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards,
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
