Job Overview:

• Languages: English
• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
• Work Setting: Various locations, relocation costs covered by employer

Responsibilities:

• Address customers' complaints or concerns with professionalism in customer service
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs
• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
• Ensure the safety and security of cargo through tarping

Credentials:

• Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
• Driver's License (Class 1 or A)

Experience and Specialization:

• Documentation knowledge including accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports
• Experience with refrigerated and tractor-trailer trucking equipment
• Communication systems experience, including operating GPS and other navigation equipment
• Transportation/travel experience including international, local, long-haul, and provincial/territorial routes

Additional Information:

• Security and safety requirements including a valid passport, driver's validity license check, driving record check (abstract), and drug test
• Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's license required
