Job Description:
We are seeking a Family Doctor/General Physician for our Meadowood and St. Norbert integrated health clinics which provide walk-in and by-appointment medical services to the community of Winnipeg. The physician will perform all duties associated with a busy family practice, including coordinating primary patient care, examining and advising patients, ordering diagnostic procedures, and prescribing and administering medications and treatments. The physician will hold a core practice of clinic, acute-care and longer-term care between these two clinics. This position will be remunerated on a fee-for-service for all medical services (clinic and hospital as applicable) based on agreements between Doctors Manitoba and MHHLS, and working hours will range between 30 and 40 hours per week.
Main Duties include:
Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health
Advise patients and their families on health care, including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention
Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
Perform and assist in routine procedures
Perform pre and post-natal care
Provide emergency care
Provide acute care management
Vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases
Perform patient advocacy role
Coordinate and manage primary patient care
Provide continuous care to patients
Report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases to governmental authorities.
Employment Requirements and Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or in Quebec, completion of a college program and one year of pre-medicine university studies and graduation from an approved medical school and two to three years of family medicine residency training are required.
Must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.
Must provide proof of CMPA coverage prior to starting practice.
Must hold or be eligible for CCFP.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or eligible to apply
