Responsibilities
Tasks
- Install insulation systems on HVAC ducting, chilled water lines, and industrial piping in complex mechanical setups.
- Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and mechanical layouts to plan insulation application accurately.
- Measure, cut, and fit specialized insulation materials (mineral wool, fiberglass, elastomeric foam) to precise specifications.
- Apply protective cladding and jacketing systems (aluminum, stainless steel, PVC) for mechanical and environmental protection.
- Install and seal vapor barriers and fire-rated insulation systems to control condensation and meet safety codes.
- Perform insulation work on high-temperature and low-temperature systems, ensuring optimal thermal performance.
- Work in confined spaces and elevated structures, following industry-standard safety and access procedures.
- Coordinate with mechanical trades (pipefitters, HVAC installers) to integrate insulation with system installations.
- Inspect and troubleshoot insulation systems to identify heat loss, condensation risks, or installation defects.
- Remove, repair, and replace insulation, including handling regulated materials in compliance with safety regulations.
