Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Technician – Machining & TIG Welding to join our production team. This role is ideal for a machinist-focused technician with strong exposure to CNC and lathe machines, solid TIG welding skills, and a willingness to work hands-on in a shop environment. The successful candidate will support daily manufacturing operations, including machining assistance, TIG welding, grinding, and general production tasks as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding to drawings, specifications, and quality standards (TIG proficiency required; MIG is secondary)
- Support machining operations, including CNC and lathe machine setup, loading/unloading parts, and cycle monitoring
- Assist with basic CNC and lathe troubleshooting and adjustments
- Perform mechanical assembly of fabricated and machined components
- Carry out grinding, deburring, polishing, and finishing tasks
- Perform basic measurements and inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Communicate quality issues and improvement ideas to supervisors
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 1–5 years of experience in machining and/or welding within a manufacturing environment
- Strong TIG welding capability
- Experience or strong aptitude with CNC and lathe machines
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on shop work
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and quality
Preferred Qualifications (Assets)
- BCIT Machinist diploma or related technical training
- CWB welding certification
- Experience in combined machining and welding roles
- Basic CNC programming knowledge
