
Job Title: Early Childhood Educator
Term: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: $26.50 - $29.50 per hour
Work hours: 30-40 hours per week

P-Wee Early Learning Centre is dedicated to providing an imaginative, child-centered learning environment inspired by Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles, with a focus on nurturing the whole child. We offer high-quality Infant & Toddler Programs and 3–5 Years Programs within a warm and supportive setting.
The Early Childhood Educator provides care and facilitates age-appropriate learning activities for young children, supports daily routines, and promotes children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development in a safe, clean, and nurturing early learning environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plan and implement play-based, age-appropriate learning activities that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, in accordance with the principles of the BC Early Learning Framework and the centre’s Montessori-inspired philosophy.
2. Guide and assist children in developing age-appropriate daily living skills, including eating, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
3. Observe and document children’s development, interests, and progress through written observations and records to support individualized learning.
4. Adjust activities and programming based on children’s individual needs, interests, and developmental stages.
5. Encourage children’s creativity and self- expression through art, dramatic play, music and physical activities.
6. Lead group and individual activities such as storytelling, reading, singing, music, and indoor or outdoor play, including local outings when appropriate.
7. Monitor children for signs of potential developmental, learning, or behavioural concerns and share observations with parents or supervisors as appropriate.
8. Communicate regularly, respectfully, and professionally with parents regarding children’s progress and daily experiences.
9. Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing learning environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children in compliance with licensing and health and safety requirements.
10. Establish and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with co-workers and, where applicable, community service providers working with children.
Qualifications:
1. College or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
2. Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate; Infant/Toddler or Special Needs certification is an asset.
3. Minimum 1–2 years of full-time experience in a licensed childcare setting.
4. Clean criminal record check and immunization; Current First Aid & CPR Certification..
5. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling. Punctuality, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, reliability, multitask.
6. Good communication skills and team work.
