Job Description

Piroche Plants Inc. is looking for 40 Fulltime, Permanent Nursery Labourers.

Vacancies: 40

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Start Date: As soon as possible

Wages: $17.85 per hour for 40 hours per week

Job Duties:

• Plant softwood and hardwood cuttings (small branches of trees and shrubs) into pots or designated growing areas, ensuring proper spacing and depth for healthy growth.
• Sow seeds and plant bulbs into trays and small pots, following planting schedules and crop-specific requirements.
• Prune trees, shrubs, and flowering plants using appropriate tools to promote healthy growth, proper shape, and improved yield.
• Assist in digging and handling trees and shrubs, including wrapping root balls with burlap or other materials to protect roots during lifting and transport.
• Prepare plants for export by performing root washing, removing excess soil, and ensuring plants meet quality and phytosanitary standards.
• Mix and prepare soil, compost, and growing media for potting and transplanting activities.
• Transplant seedlings and move established plants into larger pots or containers to support continued growth and development.
• Water newly planted and existing crops using hoses, sprinklers, or automated irrigation systems, and apply sawdust or mulch to control weed growth and retain moisture.
• Perform regular cultivation and irrigation of plants, shrubs, and trees using manual and automated systems to maintain optimal growing conditions.
• Operate basic farm machinery and equipment such as tractors, transplanters, and loaders to assist with plowing, digging, planting, lifting, and moving plants.
• Load, unload, and transport plants, soil, and materials within the nursery using hand tools or equipment.
• Monitor plants for signs of disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies and report any issues to supervisors promptly.
• Inspect roots, leaves, and stems regularly to identify infections or damage and assist in applying appropriate treatments as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment to meet health and safety standards.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and supervisor instructions while performing daily tasks.
