Position: Early Childhood Educator Assistant
Type of employment: Full-Time; Permanent

Responsibilities
- Support Early Childhood Educators in delivering developmentally appropriate programs that foster the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of children.
- Assist in planning and organizing activities such as storytelling, singing, creative arts, sensory play, outdoor exploration, and free play.
- Supervise and actively engage children during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, and field trips, ensuring a safe and positive environment at all times.
- Guide and support children with daily routines, including eating, dressing, handwashing, and toilet habits, while encouraging independence.
- Prepare and serve nutritious snacks and meals, and set up or tidy learning areas for activities, meals, and rest periods.
- Observe and document children's behaviour, participation, and developmental progress, report observations to educators or supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom by performing light housekeeping duties and sanitizing toys and surfaces regularly.
- Assist in managing classroom materials, equipment, and supplies to support a stimulating learning environment.
- Attend staff meetings, participate in professional development sessions, and contribute to ongoing program planning and improvement.
- Promote inclusion, respect, and positive behaviour by modeling appropriate social interactions and supporting each child’s individual needs.
- Support the emotional well-being of children by offering comfort, encouragement, and a nurturing presence throughout the day.
- Help maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and communication logs, as required by supervisors or licensing regulations.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school.
- Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting would be an asset.
- Completion of an Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) certificate program or relevant post-secondary coursework in early childhood education is preferred.
- Valid Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) certification or equivalent recognition from a provincial/territorial authority.
- Good physical health and the ability to lift, bend, and be active with children for extended periods.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
