Responsibilities

Tasks

• Prepare and cook authentic Indian meals, including traditional curries, biryanis, tandoori dishes, and freshly baked breads (e.g., naan and roti), following time-honored recipes and spice-blending techniques.
• Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as the restaurant's high standards for food quality and sanitation.
• Train kitchen staff and helpers in the proper preparation, cooking, and safe handling of Indian cuisine, including the correct use of spices (masalas), marinades, and specialized equipment such as the tandoor oven.
• Order and manage kitchen supplies and equipment, ensuring the consistent availability of fresh produce, specialty spices, dairy products (e.g., paneer, ghee), and dry goods required for daily menu operations.
• Delegate prep work (chopping, grinding spices, preparing dough) and coordinating workflow to ensure timely service during peak dining hours.
• Tracking food stock, supply usage, and kitchen equipment to minimize waste and control food costs.
• Designing specialized Indian menu items for large-scale events, private parties, and festive catering occasions.
