Long Haul Tow Truck Driver
This position is for Long Haul Tow Truck Driver and involves specialized towing, vehicle recovery, and long-distance transportation assignments. Candidates must be able to safely operate heavy-duty tow trucks and handle disabled commercial vehicles and roadside recovery situations.
Position Details

- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Salary: $37.00–$40.00 per hour, to be negotiated
- Hours: 40–60 hours per week

- Work Location: On the road
- Travel: Long-haul, overnight and extended travel as required
Job Duties
- Drive tow truck to the scene of vehicle breakdown or accident across long distances
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Provide assistance in emergency situations such as civil disorder, natural disaster and major accidents.
- Perform basic mechanic skills such as changing tires, replacing batteries, or fixing broken wires.
- Tow wrenched vehicles across long distances and perform roading assistance
- Recover the broken vehicle and transport the vehicle safely to the garage.
- Required to respond to the accident scene at any time of emergency.
Requirements
- Secondary school graduation certificate.
- Experience as an asset but towing/recovery capability is the operational requirement.
- Valid AZ Class Licence.
- Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
Towing Industry Qualifications and Requirements
- A background in the towing, recovery, roadside assistance, or vehicle recovery industry is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating tow trucks and carrying out towing and vehicle recovery operations.
- Familiarity with handling disabled vehicles and responding to roadside breakdowns, recovery calls, and emergency towing situations.
- Ability to safely secure, load, transport, and unload vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of towing, vehicle recovery, load securement, and roadside safety procedures.
- Ability to inspect and operate towing and recovery equipment, including winches, chains, straps, hooks, hydraulic systems, and related equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspection procedures for tow trucks and towing equipment.
- Ability to perform or assist with emergency roadside repairs and basic preventive maintenance.
- Ability to operate GPS and other navigation systems and adjust routes based on road, traffic, weather, and recovery conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods, including overnight and long-distance towing assignments.
- Availability for early morning, evening, night, weekend, on-call, and emergency towing and recovery assignments.
- Satisfactory driving abstract and licence verification.
- Ability to successfully complete company-required driving, towing, recovery, and safety assessments.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professionalism when dealing with customers, roadside emergencies, and vehicle recovery situations.
