Job Description
North Mountain Construction has been providing construction services in the Kootenays of British Columbia since 2007. We have completed projects ranging from historic renovations like the Savoy Hotel, Ainsworth Hot Springs, and Kootenay Co-op Grocery Store to custom luxury homes. Founded by Nelson-born Gabe Tyler, we are deeply rooted in the local community, employing over 50 residents and fostering strong relationships with local sub-trades and suppliers to ensure exceptional value, integrity, and expertise in every project.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Project Manager to oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Job Description:
- Start date: ASAP
- Pay rate: $50.00/hour (32–40 hours per week)
- Benefits: Health benefits (Dental plan, Health care plan, Vision care benefits)
- Hours per week: 32–40, with possible overtime when required
- Work Shift: Early morning, morning, day, evening, overtime as needed
- Location: 5643 Taghum Frontage Rd., Nelson, BC V1L 6Y2 (on-site)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Planning, developing and managing schedules, budgets, client interactions, subcontractors, and suppliers and ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within budget while meeting a high level of quality
- Chairing client and consultant meetings
- Performing risk management to minimize project risks
- Tracking job costs, providing financial reports, managing project budgets and working with the accounting team ensuring all AR/AP are completed in a timely manner
- Monitoring the change management process including identifying, pricing and tracking change events
- Working with consultants throughout the project on design, RFI’s, site instructions, inspections
- Completing project close out meetings and providing final job cost reports and management including feedback to the estimating team
- Working closely with other departments including contracts & risk, estimating, superintendents and field staff
- Working with the local building inspectors for submittals & inspections
- Ensuring all company and subcontractor operations meet industry and regulatory standards
- Mentoring, coaching and training junior staff
- Coordinating resource availability and allocation
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive project documentation
- Proactively seeking business opportunities through existing relationships
- Bachelor's degree
- 2–3 years of experience in construction project management or a related role
- Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Excel) and MS Project
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication in English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Organized, detail-oriented, and a team player with strong values and ethics
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 2–3 years of experience in construction project management or a related role
- Proficiency in MS Office (including MS Excel) and MS Project
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication in English
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Organized, detail-oriented, and a team player with strong values and ethics
