Job Requirements:

-  Early Childhood Education Certificate from the BC ECE Registry is a must

-  Infant Toddler Educator Certificate would be an advantage

-  Education: College diploma or bachelor's degree in early childhood education field is required

-  Experiences would be highly appreciated

-  Criminal Record Check and First Aid Certificate are major requirements

-  Applicant that is able to communicate well in English preferably both orally and written skills

 

Job duties:

-  Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisors

-  Guide and assist children according to center’s curriculum and program

-  Implement and develop child-care and infant child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

-  Help children develop their skills especially during meal, snack, nap and toilet times

-  Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

-  Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest

-  Knowledge of Daycare Services Act and licensing regulations

-  Establish guidelines for behavior

-  Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

-  Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

-  Maintain equipment and assist housekeeping and cooking duties and order supplies and equipment

-  Attend staff meetings to discuss progress, problems and concerns related to the children

-  Evaluate and Manage the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members

 

Early Childhood Educator Assistant / Infant Toddler Educator Skills

Support Early Childhood Educators in leading the activities that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Discuss the progress and problems of children during staff meetings; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Lead children to participate in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Submit written observation reports on children to early childhood educators or supervisors

 

Additional Skills

Plan and organize activities for the children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours; Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; Order supplies and equipment for activities; Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Supervise and coordinate in planning of activities with early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants

 

Salary:

$ 18.00 ~ 20.00 CAD hourly

-  Required to work from 7:30 AM to 18:00 PM with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break

-  Expected to work 8 hours a day and 40 hours per week
